The distance to the price
Against the 29 October close of 1,526,000 won, the median new target is 2.08 times the price. The lowest, DS Investment’s 2,640,000, is 1.73 times. The highest, 4,000,000 from SK Securities and Kyobo, is 2.62 times.
The gap is not only a product of October’s fall. Before results, the eight brokers in our SK hynix company file had a median latest target of 3,400,000 won. Even at the 21 September close of 1,868,000, the highest in our record, that was 1.82 times the price.
The post-results median is lower than the pre-results one, but mostly because the set of brokers changed: the targets that moved went both ways, and three of the eleven reports came from brokers with no earlier SK hynix target in our list.
The dividend date
To receive the 20,000 won dividend, a shareholder must be on the register on the 30 November record date. YTN reported that this means buying by 26 November, because Korean trades settle two business days later. Korea now lets companies set the record date after the dividend is announced (how that works).
